I have to wonder if studies like these aren’t talked about just to get more funding. The scientists involved know they need more information (Correlation != causation, after all), but they still release half-finished data so they can get more money. (Of course, that’s better than the dozen or so “new” reports I see daily about the fact that smoking’s dangerous. I could’ve told them that when I was 5. It’s time to start studying something new, methinks.

Does anyone know of any good independent sources for news? My RSS reader gathers a lot of different stuff from around the ‘net, and I’ve discovered I really like RedNova, but I’d like to have a little more “real” news, from sources that are a little less mainstream than CNN, ABCNews and the like.

I’ve been watching The Shield on DVD (I’m one episode from finishing Season 2), and it disturbs me a little that, of all the things that Vic Mackey’s done on the show (murder, theft, etc.), the only one that caused me to disapprove of him in the least was his affair with Danny (the female uniformed officer) from early in the first season.
