McCain-Feingold Insurrection

I’m sure that everyone has, by now, heard that the FEC is considering whether copying text from a political press release or linking to a candidate’s website might be considered a “contribution” and therefore regulated under the recent “reforms” to campaign finances.

I was annoyed by some of the things I’d read about this campaign finance “reform” bill before, but I didn’t really speak up because it didn’t really affect me. Yeah, I know — if you keep ignoring injustice when it happens to other people, there will be no one to stand up for you when it happens to you. Lesson learned, and thankfully, learned before anyone’s actually come after me (or any blog, to my knowledge).

When the Constitution says we have freedom of speech, it means we have freedom of speech. Hopefully, some Gun Control activists who’re worried about this infringement of the First Amendment will come to realize that this is exactly what they’ve been trying to do to our Second Amendment rights for years.

We can’t sit by and watch our rights be eroded. As such, I’d just like to say that I’m 100% in agreement with Phelps and The McCain-Feingold Insurrection. To that end, I’ve swiped a banner from Jed at Freedom Sight, and will be placing it on my blog’s sidebar shortly.
