I was going to comment on the story of a 19-year-old who was convicted on two counts of murder for helping his girlfriend miscarry, but I see that Dale Franks over at The Q and O Blog already has it covered:

So, if she goes to a doctor and he kills the fetus at her behest, it’s not murder because…there’s a right way and a wrong way to kill a fetus?

Look, either the fetus is a person, in which case no one can legally kill it, or it isn’t a person, in which case, anyone can kill it. Mr. Flores is, admittedly, a complete idiot, as is his loser girlfriend, Ms. Basoria. But I don’t think he deserves to spend the rest of his life in prison. Or a single day, for that matter.

If stupidity was a criminal offense, however…

I have to agree with Jon Henke’s addendum to that post — with our country’s current stance on abortion, the only legitimate crime this man committed was practicing medicine without a license.
