Spoiler-Free Review: Batman Begins
Note: The following is a spoiler free review, assuming that one doesn’t consider the revelations the following facts to be spoilers:
(a.) There are fights in Batman Begins.
(b.) Batman drives a Batmobile.
Of course, if you consider those things spoilers, the spoilers are still technically not a part of the review, they’re part of the disclaimer. Oops.
Well, that was fun. It’s possible that I was biased by the fact that there was a trailer for Serenity at the beginning of the movie, but I thought Batman Begins was a fair bit better than any of the previous Batman movies (with the possible exception of the 60s version, which I like for entirely different reasons).
Talking about the movie afterward, Matthew and I could only come up with a handful of complaints. The fights were awkwardly directed, and it was difficult to see what was going on. The Batmobile isn’t what we would’ve wanted it to be. Batman’s mask makes his face look oddly wide.
Other than those minor complaints, though, it was pretty much everything I would’ve asked for from a Batman origin movie.
Plus, Serenity trailer, which is more than worth the price of admission.
