I’d like to welcome Dafydd ab Hugh’s blog, Big Lizards, to the blogosphere and, more relevantly, to my blogroll.
I’d recognized Dafydd’s name when he was posting over at Captain’s Quarters, but I never quite put my finger on where I knew the name from until recently. He’s the author of one of my favorite Star Trek: Deep Space Nine novels, Fallen Heroes.

Okay, I didn’t actually include Malcolm Reynolds in my “Heroes for Bush” Blogburst entry, but I did say that it seemed likely and that someone else would cover it.
It seems like I may’ve been right, according to this interview with Joss Whedon:
Q. And [the government-sponsored assassin] The Operative has an honorable point of view — in his way.
A. Oh, he totally does. Mal is somebody that I knew, as I created him, I would not get along with. I don’t think we have the same politics. But that’s sort of the point. I mean, if the movie’s about anything, it’s about the right to be wrong. It’s about the messiness of people. And if you try to eradicate that, you eradicate them.
Oddly, I think that Mal is exactly the kind of guy I’d get along with and respect immensely. It’s a good thing that I don’t have to like Whedon’s politics to like his work, isn’t it?

Nooooooo!!! I missed my shot at a free viewing of Serenity!
Crap.
I guess I’ll just have to wait until Friday like everyone else.
I love this picture:

I’m running behind on episode reviews for a couple of reasons. First, I’m lazy. Second, I’ve realized that I didn’t get started on them until it was too late, and I’m not going to finish before Serenity comes out.
So, I may or may not continue those. I’m thinking, instead, of just writing something that’s at least tangentially Firefly related each day this week to finish up my “Fifteen Days of Firefly” series.
Maybe I’ll write real posts, or maybe I’ll end up with posts like this one, with just a link to Blue Sun Shirts, which has some neat Firefly merchandise. It’s bootleg stuff, but if there was any official merchandise, I’d be happy to point people to that, too.
