Most of my “real life” friends don’t read my blog. A couple of family members read it occasionally, and, really, they make up most of my readership, according to my logs. The few other readers who drop by here aren’t going to appreciate this as much as my local friends will. I’m just making a note so that I’ll remember to tell those friends about it later.

Completely Heartless Edition

I realize that the idea most certainly didn’t originate there, but I’ll shamelessly admit to having been influenced by Banana Oil! in naming yesterday’s excerpt from In the Best Families a “Quote of the Day.” Despite the name, it was intended to be a one-time thing because I thought someone might appreciate that excerpt. However, it serves as a nice way to make sure I get a post a day even when I’m writing a “novel” and trying to play enough CoH to keep my Supergroup from booting me.

It doesn’t hurt that I found a nice post from Steve (at Hog On Ice) that I wanted to quote, titled “What I Assume Chertoff Said“:

Am I a bad person for pointing this out? It’s one thing to get caught in a flood when a dam bursts and you live right under it. It’s another to sit on your big behind while water pours through a breach in a levee or floodwall miles away. If you think I’m mean for calling these people idiots, explain why it was reasonable for them to stay where they were. And don’t hand me that lie about not having transportation. Many, many working cars sat in front of people’s houses and sank during the flood. And it was possible for able-bodied people to escape the flooding on foot.

Do you think I’d let myself drown like that? I’d be in the car in two minutes. Does that make me a genius? Where is my prize? Maybe I should write a paper and submit it to the Nobel Committee. “How to Survive Gradual Flooding, by Steve. 1. Leave. The End.”
