While we were watching the WVU / Mississippi State football game on pay-per-view yesterday, we got into a discussion about sportsmanship, particularly with regards to those games in which the winning team “runs up the score.”

I’ve never understood why running up the score is considered bad sportsmanship. To me, bad sportsmanship is when one team looks at another and basically decides that the other team isn’t good enough for them to play at their best. It’s an insult, and somehow people act like it’s the noble thing to do.
