Heroes, Week 3

Heroes is getting better week after week. While I don’t think anyone would have much trouble picking up the basic storylines, these episodes definitely aren’t stand-alone. The first episode did little more than give us a basic introduction to several of the main characters. The second episode provided a little more story for each of them, and introduced Greg Grunberg’s character, a cop who discovers he can “hear” the thoughts of other people. The prediction of a nuclear explosion in New York was given a little more credence since Hiro saw it while visiting the future, and there appears to be a super-powered serial killer (named Sylar) on the loose.

With a cast as large as this one is, particularly since very few of them have interacted with each other at all so far, it’s surprising how much this show doesn’t feel slow. There are several different subplots going on, and each of them seems to get moved enough each episode that I don’t feel like things are just dragging.

Anyway, this week’s episodes continued each of the subplots, as well as bringing Hiro and his friend Ando to America (they’re heading to Las Vegas, which I imagine will put them in contact with Niki, who started in Vegas and doesn’t seem to have gotten far).
