According to one of the Dilbert books (maybe The Dilbert Future?), there are two things to be learned from Economics classes:
- Something about Supply and Demand
- Boredom can’t kill you, but it can make you wish it would
Does that mean there’s something wrong with me because I find posts like this one fascinating?

Kathryn Jean Lopez of National Review Online’s blog, The Corner, has a transcript from comments to the Senate this morning by Harry Reid, where he discussed how he helped Rush Limbaugh had raised over 2 million dollars for charity:
I STRONGLY BELIEVE WHEN WE CAN PUT OUR DIFFERENCES ASIDE, EVEN HARRY REID AND RUSH LIMBAUGH, WE SHOULD DO THAT AND TRY TO ACCOMPLISH GOOD THINGS FOR THE AMERICAN PEOPLE. THIS DOES THAT, MADAM PRESIDENT. MORE THAN $2 MILLION FOR A LETTER SIGNED BY THIS SENATOR AND MY FRIENDS.
Harry Reid and Rush Limbaugh, working together to raise money for a very worthwhile charity — that’s pretty impressive, huh?
You may be wondering what Reid contributed to this impressive fundraiser. He wrote a letter, condemning Rush for using the phrase “Phony Soldiers”. The letter portrays Rush’s words as an attack on all soldiers, where he was actually referring to a very specific subset of soldiers, who not only opposed the war, but lied about their experiences in order to undermine it.
After receiving the letter, Rush decided to sell it on eBay, offering to match the final selling price. The very generous buyer ended up bidding just over $2.1 million dollars. The way I figure it, that adds up to a $2.1 million dollar donation from a generous buyer, a $2.1 million dollar donation from Rush Limbaugh, and a majorly misleading and dishonest political maneuver from one of the Democratic leaders in Congress, trying to take credit for the generosity of two of this country’s citizens.
Shame on you, Mr. Reid.
